Amado “Dong” Reyes

Coming from a broken family, my self-esteem has been greatly affected. I felt like an inferior type of person, and so I became shy and timid. I wanted to escape from my own realities, and education seemed to be the only recourse for me to get out of my shame. During my college, I got involved with the left leaning movement. It gave me a sense of relevance, significance, and power, being somebody who can contribute in changing the society. But with a change society comes a changed man. And I didn’t feel I was a changed man. Not until June 22, 1985, I was invited to attend an evangelistic rally that had a theme: “a changed society is a changed man” It struck me hard, so I was challenged to put my faith in Jesus Christ and I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. II Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, all things have passed away and new things have come”. Christ’s brokenness brought wholeness in my life. I learned how to face reality in life and I am loved and accepted in spite of who I am. I am able to walk now with my chin up and am able to look in anyone’s eyes and be not afraid. Christ has changed me and He continuously works to complete His purpose in me. He has the power to change you and the society as well. |
